WSGA Player of the Year Brittany Kwon wins fourth high school state title



The high school golf season in Washington has come to a close as the WIAA boys’ and girls’ state golf championships were held this week at several courses across the state.

Five boys and four girls were crowned as individual champions across the nine different high school divisions.

Among the notable champions, three-time WSGA Junior Girls’ Player of the Year Brittany Kwon of Bremerton, Wash. completed the four-peat by winning her fourth consecutive 3A Girls state title.

Kwon, a senior at Central Kitsap High School, fired rounds of 67-72 for a 139 total to win by three shots over Lauryn Nguyen of West Seattle High School.

For Kwon, this is the fourth year in a row she has captured the individual state title and it is believed that she is the first golfer in state history to achieve the feat.

Kwon is the reigning WSGA Junior Girls’ Player of the Year and also won the award the in 2016 and 2017. She is committed to play college golf for the University of Washington Women’s Golf Team following graduation from high school.

The 2019 WIAA 3A Girls state golf championship was held at the Hawks Prairie Woodlands course in Lacey, Wash.
