I started working for the Association in November of 2006. Seems like yesterday. I got into the game at 13 when I started working as a caddie at Sahalee Country Club. My parents were not members there at the time, but because I worked there I could play there. After college I kind of walked away from the game, moved around and worked a few jobs for the next several years. I came back to the Northwest in the late 1990s, and started managing some golf events, and that's how I got back into the golf industry.
What has been your favorite moment so far in working for the Association?
I was visiting a golf course way out in the mountains. We were miles away from anything, and traveled the last few miles on a gravel road to get to the course. I walked into the small clubhouse and saw on a little counter the GHIN handicap computer screen and a few leaflets from our office. It hit me at that moment how really connected the golf community is in our region, no matter how far the distances may be between us.
Which part of your job do you enjoy the most?
Being able to share with people the stories of those who play this game. There is no greater satisfaction.
