Nate Schroeder, Assistant Director of Rules and Competition

Nate Schroeder

I have been working for the WSGA as the Manager of Rules & Competition since January of 2014. My main responsibility is to administer WSGA championships, Fall & Winter Series events and USGA Qualifiers. At each of our championships I help set up the golf course, serve on the rules committee, and work with volunteers to administer high quality competitions. When I'm not on site at an event, I assist with the day to day functions of the Championship Department and respond to inquiries about the Rules of Golf. I got in to golf administration after graduating from the University of Minnesota in 2013 and spending a year as a USGA P.J. Boatwright Intern with the New York State Golf Association. In my free time you can find me out on the golf course, somewhere getting far too emotionally invested in Gopher sports, or out exploring my new home in the Northwest.

What's your favorite part about conducting a championship?

It would have to be setting up the golf course. I truly enjoy trying to create a set-up that players will find challenging but rewarding. It's always fun to look at stats afterward and see if players were able to score where I had hoped or if they had a harder time than I anticipated with a particular hole location.

Who would be in your Dream Foursome?

My dream foursome would be a Hi/Low match where I'm paired with Phil Mickelson playing against Michael Jordan and Bill Murray.
