JackMaichel-VOMSept2015

The Washington State Golf Association is happy to honor Jack Maichel as the Volunteer of the Month for the month of September. Jack has worked several events throughout the summer including a busy September in which he worked the USGA Senior Amateur Qualifier, USGA Mid-Amateur Qualifier, several days at the WSGA Senior and Super Senior Men's Amateur Championships, the WSGA Women's Best-Ball, and the USGA Men's Four-ball Qualifier. Jack first gained volunteer experience at the US Women's Amateur Public Links at The Home Course. Since then he has helped the WSGA by volunteering to help with pace of play and live scoring. Jack has a great interest in the Rules of Golf and has spent extra hours volunteering to ride around with WSGA Rules Officials as a Rules Apprentice. We are thankful for Jack's devotion and we are looking forward to his continued involvement with the WSGA!

Volunteer of the Month of August, 2015: Chris and Michele Sales

Chris and Michele Sales

The WSGA is honoring Chris and Michele Sales as the Volunteers of the Month for the month of August, 2015.

Chris and Michelle wore many hats while they helped out the WSGA at the Washington State Men's Amateur Championship at Suncadia Resort's Rope Rider Course in Cle Elum, Wash. The Sales proved their value over four days at the championship, beginning with working at the pre-tournament registration table, then helping out on the course by shuttling players from the 9th green to the 10th tee, and monitoring the pace of play and taking live scores. Chris and Michelle helped out later in August at the WSGA Men's and Women's Mid-Amateur Championships at Fairwood Golf and Country Club in Renton, Wash. by helping with pace of play, live scoring, and registration. The Sales have been incredible volunteers for the WSGA for many years, and are counted on every season to make our championships successful. The WSGA is very lucky to have enthusiastic and willing volunteers like the Sales who will take on any task to help us run our events! Thank you for everything, Chris and Michele.

The WSGA is happy to honor Eileen Buskirk as the Volunteer of the Month for her efforts during the month of July. Eileen volunteers with the WSGA working as a Rules Official out on the course. She worked full days at the WSGA Men's Amateur West Qualifier held at Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton, Washington and the WSGA Parent-Child Championship held at The Home Course in DuPont, Washington. Eileen's expert knowledge of the Rules of Golf were handy during these events, especially in the Parent-Child Championship which was played in the Chapman Stroke Play format. Over the years Steve has shared his passion, experience, and knowledge for the Rules of Golf with the WSGA as a Rules Official, while Andrew volunteered his time in the past as a Rules Apprentice and recently graduated to become a Rules Official. Together, Steve and Andrew were a huge help to the WSGA in their roles at USGA Qualifiers, as well. WSGA Championships would not operate at the high standards set without volunteers like Steve and Andrew. Thank you both!

Co-Volunteers of the Month of May, 2015: Kaydee Mounce & Dave Butterfield

The Washington State Golf Association is happy to honor Kaydee Mounce and Dave Butterfield as the WSGA's Championship Volunteers of the Month for their hard work throughout the months of April and May. Both Kaydee and Dave were present to help out with the WSGA Champion of Champions at The Home Course, the U.S. Open Local Qualifier at The Home Course, and the WSGA Men's and Senior Men's Best-Ball Championship at Inglewood Golf Club.

Kaydee Mounce:

A stalwart volunteer for the WSGA and the PNGA, Kaydee brings her experience and upbeat personality to the course from sunup to sundown. Kaydee usually runs player registration in the morning and manages the scoring table as players finish their rounds throughout the afternoon and evening. This makes for very long days during championships like the Champion of Champions and the Men's and Senior Men's Best-Ball. All of Kaydee's hard work and energy does not go unnoticed and we are grateful to have her attention to detail, hard work ethic, and lively personality at our events!

Dave Butterfield:

Dave Butterfield showed his enthusiasm and interest and volunteered as a Rules Apprentice during the U.S. Open Local Qualifier, held at The Home Course. His excitement to be involved with the Rules of Golf is important to the WSGA as they look to build the program. Dave was also an integral part of our Champion of Champions and Best-Ball Championships where he was stationed out on the course to monitor pace of play and enter scores for online scoring.

The WSGA is thankful to have dedicated and reliable volunteers like Kaydee and Dave to make our Championships successful!
