The Washington State Golf Association (WSGA) is the local representative of the United States Golf Association (USGA) and conducted this qualifier for the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship.

A bogey on the par-5 15th hole put Kimmel’s chances seemingly out of reach, but he strung together three consecutive birdies to finish strong and claim the lone available spot by a single stroke.

Kimmel just finished his sophomore year at Gonzaga Prep, and this spring led the school to the Greater Spokane League team title while taking the individual title. He earned the league’s Player of the Year honors.
