Four players co-medal at U.S. Mid-Amateur qualifying at Rope Rider

Cle Elum, Wash. – Four players shot 2-under-par 70 to earn co-medalist honors at U.S. Mid-Amateur Sectional qualifying held today on the Rope Rider course at Suncadia Resort in Cle Elum, Wash.

Kevin Carrigan of Victoria, B.C., Erik Hanson of Kirkland, Wash., Jacob Koppenberg of Bellingham, Wash. and Luke Bakke of Seattle tied at the top of the leaderboard, and are the players earning the four available spots in this qualifier to advance to the championship proper.

These four players will now advance to compete in the 2019 U.S. Mid-Amateur, to be held September 14-19 at Colorado Golf Club in Parker, Colo.

The Washington State Golf Association (WSGA) is the local representative of the United States Golf Association (USGA), and conducted this qualifier for the U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship.

Carrigan is a three-time PNGA Men’s Mid-Amateur Player of the Year (2012, 2013, 2014); Hanson is a past Pacific Northwest Men’s Mid-Amateur champion (2002); Koppenberg made it to the semifinals of this year’s Pacific Northwest Men’s Amateur; and Bakke won the 2018 Washington State Men’s Best-Ball (with partner Austin Beatty).
