U.S. Mid-Amateur qualifying is set to commence at Aldarra Golf Club in Sammamish, Wash. on Monday, July 28, as 67 players will look to earn one of this qualifier's four available spots into the U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship, to be held September 6-11 at Saucon Valley Country Club in Bethlehem, Pa.

Aldarra Golf Club, #12

This qualifier will be contested over 18 holes, with the day's first tee time at 8:00 a.m.

The Washington State Golf Association (WSGA) is the local representative of the United States Golf Association (USGA) and conducts this qualifier for the U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship.

Notable players in the field at Aldarra include Erik Hanson of Kirkland, Wash. who won the 2002 Pacific Northwest Mid-Amateur and the 2007 and 2010 Pacific Northwest Master-40 Championships; Michael Haack of Renton, Wash., the 2013 WSGA Men's Mid-Amateur Player of the Year; and Ted Himka of Bellevue, Wash., the 1984 Washington State Men's Amateur champion.

This year marks the 34th U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship. Entries for the 2014 U.S. Mid-Amateur were open to players who have reached their 25th birthday by September 5, 2014, and who have a USGA Handicap Index not exceeding 3.4. The championship proper consists of 36 holes of stroke play qualifying, held on September 6-7, to determine the 64 players who will then compete in single elimination match play to determine the champion. Champions of this event earn an invitation to the Masters.

The U.S. Mid-Amateur is one of 13 national championships conducted annually by the USGA, 10 of which are strictly for amateurs.
